Description

International guest artist Nora Sitges-Sardà (William Forsythe, Ohad Naharín, Wayne McGregor,) brings her professional practice to Malta for a dynamic contemporary workshop, tailored for intermediate students of dance, aged 11–15.

Based on the method Frames of Movement, created by Nora Sitges-Sardà, this workshop begins with a warm-up where we explore different ways of moving and discovering how our bodies work. Step by step, participants will build their own movements and dynamics, leading to creative improvisations using all the qualities we explore together.

The workshop creates a safe and open space where everyone can explore their abilities and challenges, play, connect with others, build confidence, and enjoy the joy of moving together.

Suitable for intermediate-level dance students aged 11–15.

About Nora Sitges-Sardà

Born in Barcelona, she began her dance training with Laura Mas in 1986. In July 1997 she became a dancer of I.T. Dansa, directed by Catherine Allard, where she worked with J. Godani, N. Duato, J. Kylian among other international choreographers. Later on, she worked in different repertoire companies and with many diverse choreographers (Roberto Galvan, Robert Poole, Nicolas Musin, William Forsythe, Ohad Naharín, Jacopo Godani, Jiri Kylián, Patrick Delacroix, Barak Marshall, Wayne McGregor, Anjelin Preljocaj, Itzik Galili, among others).

From 2005 she worked as a freelance dancer and choreographic assistant in different international projects and with various choreographers (Jacopo Godani, Liz King, Robert Poole, Karl Schreiner, W. Forsythe…). During the same period, she co-founded, together with the choreographer Claudi Bombardó, the company CONTRAPUNCTUSdanceport based in Barcelona, with which they presented several works in different national and international venues and festivals (last creation: “PlanetBach in motion” produced by Espurnes Barroques Festival ‘26). They have also participated in various creations of dance video in collaboration with filmmakers, photographers and video art designers.

From 2012 until 2015 she worked as vice-director and ballet mistress at the Gärtnerplatz Ensemble, Munich, directed by Karl Schreiner. In 2015 she took part of the transitional process of the Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company that W. Forsythe handed over to Jacopo Godani.

She is currently working as artistic direction assistant and ballet mistress of the IT Dansa in Barcelona, where she works on different pieces from Rafael Bonachela, Jiri Kylian, Ohad Naharin, Akram Khan among others. She keeps working on Jacopo Godani’s choreographic material and she is invited as guest teacher in different projects and dance companies.
