Last Sunday’s X Factor Malta Semi-Final had some wild twists and turns. The people have voted and the talented pool of artists has been narrowed down to just four acts, who will battle it out one final time next Saturday during the big FINALE! Get to know this year’s talented final four with these 5 simple questions!

Get to know: AMELIA KALABIC

1. How would you describe yourself in 5 words?

Passionate, hard-working, resilient, kind, and ethical.

2. What first got you into music?

I don’t know when it happened exactly, however definitely when I was very very young. I just know that ever since I can remember, I love and need music in my life.  One episode that I remember from when I was super young is when I was with my parents in Valletta and they took me to see our friend who was playing and singing in a band. I was mesmerized and they couldn’t pull me away from the performance. I still remember that episode despite being very young, less than 4 for sure!

3. What has been the most surprising thing about X Factor Malta?

The amazing support from family and friends and also from strangers. I remember after the 3rd Live Show when the judges weren’t thrilled with my song choice, I had loads of people that I didn’t know messaging me with song ideas. It’s so sweet!

4. Which song have you enjoyed performing the most so far, and why?

My original, ‘Cutting Ties’. For multiple reasons. Firstly, because it’s my song and I obviously totally relate to it. However, also, at that point of the competition I was honestly at peace with myself and was ready to leave happily had I not made it to the final. So at that point I wasn’t singing under the pressure of a competition but I was totally enjoying the moment, the song, the stage and the audience.

5. Who or what are some of your greatest influences in music? And if you could choose just one to collaborate with, who would it be?

My top 3 are Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo and Frank Ocean. It’s definitely hard to choose between these wonderful 3, but if I really had to, I’d go for Olivia Rodrigo.
