Visiting Malta in spring is a great idea as at this time, the Maltese winter starts to come to an end, but it’s also right before the big summer tourist-boom hits the islands! This means you’ll get the best of worlds: warmer weather that isn’t too hot and stunning locations that are not overcrowded!

Explore the great outdoors!

Spring is possibly the best time for outdoor walks or hikes. You can go on nature trails such as Xemxija Heritage trail, Selmun, Dingli, Girgenti, or Żurrieq. The green country views don’t last for very long due to Malta’s scorching summer weather, so don’t miss out on the perfect opportunity to de-stress in Malta’s lush countryside!

If you’re lucky enough to get some really warm and sunny days during your trip, we would definitely recommend going to one of the picturesque beaches around the island. At this time of year, beaches won’t be crowded with sunworshippers and you can enjoy a quiet stroll or picnic and watch the sunset (or sunrise) over the Mediterranean horizon!

Enjoy a meal al fresco

Have lunch or dinner in places like the Valletta waterfront, Birgu waterfront or Vittoriosa marina where you can enjoy a tasty meal with spectacular sea views!

Sip your favourite cocktail in the sunshine from the wide array of bars and restaurants located along the Sliema or St Julian’s promenade! Most of them offer happy hour deals in the afternoon, so don’t miss out!

Malta Fireworks Festival

The Malta Fireworks Festival is usually held around the end of April. This colourful and explosive event commemorate’s Malta’s admission into the European Union on the 1st of May 2004. It features spectacular displays by local pyrotechnics factories which are guaranteed to offer an unforgettable experience.

Bonus: Festa Frawli!

This annual festival is held in Mġarr, the village that is well-known for its sweet-tasting and plump red berries. Nestled among lovely green hills and offering a stunning vista, Mġarr is the perfect setting to learn about, smell, and taste anything with strawberries!
