As the windy and rainy days surpass us, the hot summer season approaches the Maltese islands. This can only mean one thing – long beach days and thrilling music festivals in Malta waiting on the horizon. 


We look through some of the most anticipated festivals happening in the next few months so that you don’t have to.

Earth Garden Festival


Earth Garden Festival is one of the biggest music festivals in Malta to date. Pack all your camping gear and head over to Ta’ Qali from 2-4 of June to be part of the 16th edition of this alternative festival. 


With huge international names such as Tetra Hydro K, Asian Dub Foundation, and Cacao Mental, and huge local names such as Tribali, Manatapu, The Riffs, and more, they have got an insane line-up planned for all festival goers to enjoy. 


Expect 5 diverse music areas and stages, a large ethnic market, a kid's fun park for the little ones to enjoy, a dog park for our 4-legged friends, a healing and chill-out area, food courts, bars, a designated beer garden, a skatepark, and private camping areas including a caravan section.


Ritmu Roots Festival 


Ritmu Roots Festival is a celebration of Maltese culture and music. Going back to its roots, between the 2-10 of June, you will be able to experience the musical stylings of instrumentalists from all around the Mediterranean in our capital city, Valletta. 


Expect traditional Maltese folk music mixed with contemporary sounds to give a one-of-a-kind experience to all those attending. Workshops will be available from certain artists for children and adults to be able to immerse themselves in the sound and roots of Ritmu. 


If you’re interested in experiencing Maltese Għana music in its natural setting, Ritmu Roots Festival is the perfect place to get a taste of Malta's unique musical history. 

Malta Jazz Festival 


Some soulful jazz with a glass of wine under the moonlit sky - sounds perfect right? Malta Jazz Festival is back for another jam-packed year of jazz enthusiasts and musicians. From 10-15 July, join hundreds of jazz lovers in Valletta for a panorama of jazz music in all its glory. 


The ‘New York Blue Note Quintet’ will be making a stop at this year's Malta Jazz Festival as part of the European Tour, with an impressive set list waiting to be played on Maltese grounds. 

Għaxaq Music Festival 


On 27 and 29 July, Għaxaq grounds will be holding their annual music festival. This year, they have prepared an insane line-up that will surely make you get up and dance all your troubles away. Grammy-nominated reggae pioneer ‘The Wailers’ will be performing on the 27th as part of their world tour, along with local band STERJOTIPI. 


Following ‘The Wailers’, they have also announced ‘Marco Masini’ performing on the 29th, along with local artist Kurt Calleja. With a line-up as diverse as this, all kinds of music lovers will be able to enjoy this spectacular show set up by Għaxaq Music Festival.
