Description
Join us at the historic St Ubaldeska Church for a musico-literary event marking the arrival of the new crown for the titular statue of Christ the King, ahead of the Crowning ceremony on Sunday, 23rd November at the Basilica of Christ the King. This event also coincides with the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the titular feast of Christ the King in Paola. The evening begins at 7:30 p.m. with a corteo procession through the streets of Paola, culminating in the arrival of the crown and the premiere of the hymn ‘Imħabbitna f’Kuruna’, performed by the Banda Kristu Re and composed by its musical director Mro David Sammut especially for this occasion. The musico-literary academy will immediately follow at 9:00 p.m., presenting a specially curated programme of music and literature, offering an artistic tribute to this momentous occasion. The event features the De Paule String Quartet, comprising musicians from the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, alongside harpist Dr Lydia Buttigieg and soprano Rosabelle Bianchi. They will offer the audience an opportunity to contemplate the kingship of Christ through the arts, evoking a sense of reflection, prayer, and thanksgiving. Admission is free, but tickets are required and may be obtained from the Soċjetà Filarmonika G.M. Fra Antoine de Paule by calling 79311016.
