Description
At the spectacular Grand Opening Concert of the 2021 ‘InClasica’ Malta International Music Festival, the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra and the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra join forces, in order to bring to life Alexey Shor's Symphonic Poem “Images from the Great Siege”. Shor's large-scale symphonic work was premiered at the Malta International Music Festival, in 2018 under the baton of Sergey Smbatyan. With his music, the contemporary composer paints a fascinating series of historical tableaux that are larger than life and tells a fascinating story about incredible courage and determination. A connoisseur of Shor's music, Armenian conductor Smbatyan is also a renowned expert in Russian symphonic repertoire. As such, he conducts the “Nutcracker Suite”, containing some of Pyotr Tchaikovsky's most delightful musical inventions.
The InClassica Malta International Music Festival is organised by the European Foundation for Support of Culture (EUFSC), led by Konstantin Ishkhanov, in collaboration with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO).
