The Malta Society of Arts was the first institution in Malta to set up a School of Lace, and to organise adult classes in arts, crafts and music, promoting local talent whilst providing the proper skills in visual and performing arts. Palazzo de La Salle is the seat of the MSA, situated in lower Republic Street, Valletta.. Various renovations and embellishments were made to the original building over the years. In recent times, the palazzo has undergone a series of major works to re-pristine its condition and transform it into a major art centre in Valletta. Today the palazzo boasts art spaces in the form of a central courtyard and four upper galleries; a concert hall with a capacity to hold some 130 persons, making it the biggest one in Valletta; classrooms, a music room, spaces dedicated to art, crafts, music and culture.
